On A DayHer classical performance and compositional skills can be heard on her 'On A Day: Music For Violin & Continuo' album which she recorded at age 17. On it she plays pieces by Bach, Corelli, Leclair, Ortiz as well as three Emilie Autumn original compositions. Bach, Corelli, and Leclair were composers from the baroque era. Ortiz was from the renaissance period. Emilie's compositions here fit more into the baroque style with their contrapuntal continuos.

my friend alpha sent me this gif. it's of the earth setting on the moon horizon. it really changes your perspective on things. the moon is so barren...i hope the earth doesn't turn out like that. it's always a fight between immediate needs of money in the bank now, and future needs of oxygen. how to explain to the corporate business world that we need the amazon? how to explain to the Indians not to sell out the amazon for a tv? if we lived on the moon we'd all be bored. even more important is how to explain to the chinese that we need WATER. without water, there is no life. how to explain pollution to the chinese when the whole world produces here? if they start putting in filters and improving their conditions, then labor won't be cheap. how to deal with all these issues?

Museumnacht?

On Saturday November 3rd 2007 Amsterdam will celebrate Museum Night (n8) for the eighth year in a row. 42 museums and institutions will open their doors and organize special events from 7pm until 2am! Although the event focuses on a Dutch audience, there is plenty to see and do for non-Dutch speakers.
Try the out-of-this-world film shows in Artis Planetarium, sing your favourite Christmas Carols in the Bijbels Museum, tag along with one of the multi-lingual tours at Museum van Loon, listen to the unique little concerts in the Pianola Museum or have some wonderful cakes at the Rembrandthuis.

amazing ma-jong table out of mahogany wood. popular game in china. not sure how it's played but i remember my family played it when i was at home. maybe i will have to ask them how it's played and give it a try. my guess is that it's some form of bridge but instead of cards, you use domino like pieces. of course, if am wrong and this is not a ma-jong table...let me know what it is.
