Literally standing on the edge on bricks in water, jumping, flying, wind like crazy--well, that is what it takes and what you have to do to shoot with top photographer Zhou Wei (pronounced "Jo-way"). Shooting for the Shenzhen brand, Poths (pronounced "Poshy"), I really enjoyed to work on this job. The sun was so bright and warm and a great change from the cold Beijing weather. Warmed me up in a location that was out of a postcard--but poor Zhou Wei--he had to stay all the day in the cold freezing water to shoot me! For once it was not the model who was suffering in the water but I would not wish that on anyone. He handled it like the star he is with a smile and laughing and joking around--even though he was totally suffering. They gave me long hair for this shooting and it was whipping all over my face--I had to keep unsticking it from my lips.
When you see someone like Zhou Wei in the water, the first thing you think is--why didnt he rent or buy a wet suit? The second is wow, this is what it means when you say, "attitude is everything". On can complain as much as one wants, but he did not say a word and as I walked back and forth, hurrying, but not running as it was quite dangerous (do not run in shallow pools where you are next to a cliff going down 100 meters) I kept thinking--wow if I wasnt so experienced this could become a disaster shooting!
The photos and the light very special, I cant wait to see big billboards around Shenzhen when I come back again!
