N80 INTERNET EDITION
Nokia - ShowPressRelease bout nokia's internet edition n80. my friend esme had one and i set it up to work with my internet connection. we tried lifeblogging using the home wifi access point (fon.com). esme already has her gizmo voip account set up and so i installed in on the phone. it was really easy from the catalogs application. we didnt have time to make a test of the voip, but every tech person i know is saying that it's better than skype. they say that skype is first generation technology and gizmo is second generation and supperior because it uses SIP servers instead of the system that skype uses. i am excited to try it. also the internet tablet 770 has google talk--interesting to try. if i had to make a choice i would rather not have millions of accounts floating around in my name on the internet. so if i had to choose between gizmo and google talk--which would you choose?
Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Nokia today announced that users of the Nokia N80 Internet Edition will have easy access to low-cost calls over the Internet with SIPphone's Gizmo Voice over IP (VoIP) services. The Nokia N80 Internet Edition is optimized for SIP-based Internet calls, and now Nokia and SIPphone have worked together to create an easy way to configure and make calls using Gizmo VoIP directly from your multimedia computer.
"Mobilizing the Internet is a key focus for Nokia and I'm excited to see how a multimedia computer like the Nokia N80 Internet Edition can provide people with the convenience of Internet calling," said Ralph Eric Kunz, Vice President, Multimedia, at Nokia.
